having three longitudinal ridges as in the dorsal shield setae of most Lasioseius.
setae (composed of three parallel carinae or ridges running along the axis) are characteristic of Lasioseius, and spathulatespathulate:
(Latin spatula = spoon) flat at the base and enlarged at the apex; spathulate and spatulate are often used interchangeably.
to paddle-shaped setae (i.e., with flattened, expanded tips) have arisen several times.
