Tibia I dorsal setation

The setae of the legs and the bodybody:
the idiosoma of mites.
are the most reliable tools for identification in the Monogynaspida and they cannot be ignored. The setation of the dorsumdorsum:
the upper or back side; opposed to venter.
and venterventer:
the lower or under side; opposed to dorsum.
of tibiatibia:
(pl. tibiae) the leg segment between the genu and the tarsus.
I is one of the simplest and most useful keys to breaking the Monogynaspida up into subgroups. Primitively, 6 dorsaldorsal:
relating to the upper or back side; opposed to ventral.
setae and 4 ventral setaeventral setae:
in the Lindquist-Evans system used in the Mesostigmata, the ventral region has up to three longitudinal rows (JvZvLv) with 1-5 transverse row designations.
are present (and 2 pairs of lateral setae). Retention of the primitive condition and reductions from these maximum numbers are useful taxonomically.
