Most monogynaspids have an anal opening surrounded by three setae—a pair of paranal setaeparanal setae:
(also adanal setae) the pair of seta inserted laterad the anal opening in the Mesostigmata; usually designated pa or PAR; the anterior (= h3) and posterior (= h2) para-anals in the Pritchard & Baker System.
to either side of the anal opening and an unpaired postanal setapostanal seta:
the unpaired median seta inserted posterior to the anal opening in the Mesostigmata; usually designated po or POS.
. In Uropodina and Microgynioidea, however, an additional pair of paranal setaeparanal setae:
(also adanal setae) the pair of seta inserted laterad the anal opening in the Mesostigmata; usually designated pa or PAR; the anterior (= h3) and posterior (= h2) para-anals in the Pritchard & Baker System.
may be present. Do not confuse these with the euanal setae on the anal valves in some Zerconidae.
