(= acrotarsus, apicotarsus) a distal division of the tarsus. 
on legs IV, it is not a member of the Monogynaspida. This character is a useful, but often difficult to determine state that quickly differentiates most early derivative parasitiform mites, e.g., ticks, holothyrans, Trigynaspida, and Sejida all have setae av4 and pv4 on a usually distinct scleritesclerite:
