Neomyzus circumflexus

Overview

A highly polyphagous aphid species of worldwide distribution.

Common names

Crescent-marked lily aphid, Mottled arum aphid.

Synonyms

Aulacorthum circumflexum (Buckton, 1876)

Distribution

This aphid is globally distributed, located in all but the coldest terrestrial habitats.

Host associations

It has one of the broadest host ranges of any aphid, having been recorded from species of nearly 80 plant families.

Economic importance

It is particularly important on many monocots and dicots but also attacks conifers, ferns, and a large variety of ornamentals. In temperate regions, this species commonly attacks glasshouse crops. It has been implicated in the transmission of over 31 plant viruses.
