This aphid is widely distributed throughout temperate North America.
It has a narrow host range, feeding mostly on roseaceous plant species, but has been recorded from species of six plant families.
It is particularly important on Rosa and strawberries but also attacks a broad range of other plants, especially ornamentals. It has not been implicated in the transmission of any plant virus.
