Geoica setulosa

Overview

An aphid species found in temperate habitats feeding on the roots of grasses.

Common names

None recognized.

Distribution

This aphid is globally distributed throughout the temperate regions of the world in all but the coldest terrestrial habitats.

Host associations

It feeds on at least 20 species of grasses (Poaceae).

Economic importance

It is particularly important on Agrotis, Avena, Briza, Festuca, and Holcus (Poaceae) but also attacks Pistacia (Anacardiaceae) in Iran and some Asteraceae. It has not been implicated in the transmission of any plant virus.
