Abstrusomyzus phloxae

Overview

A moderately polyphagous North American aphid species found mostly in natural habitats.

Common names

None recognized.

Distribution

This aphid is known mostly from natural habitats in southern Canada and northern United States.

Host associations

It has a moderately broad host range, having been recorded from species of at least 15 plant families.

Economic importance

It is particularly important on Achillea and Agoseris (Asteraceae), Capsella (Brassicaceae), and Trifolium (Fabaceae) but also attacks a broad range of other plants such as Fragaria, Ranunculus, Polygonum, and Phlox, and a variety of other plants found in natural habitats. It has not been implicated in the transmission of any plant virus.
