Phytoseiulus longipes has fewer dorsaldorsal:
relating to the upper or back side; opposed to ventral.
shield setae than other species in the genus, with seta j5 and seta S5 absent (and seta z5 minute). Seta j5 is present in P. fragariae, but short and does not reach the insertions of seta j6. In P. persimilis and macropilis setae j5 are fully formed and passes the insertions of setae j6.
