Sapindus emarginatus Vahl, Symb. Bot. 3: 54 (1794).

Description

Leaflets of the soapberry are sold in the potpourri trade as “amerinth leaves.” Leaflets are egg-shaped (ovate) or elongated egg-shaped and widest above the middle (oblong-ovate), tip typically sunken (emarginate), coated with fine brown hairs on the undersurface, 3-14 cm long x 2-7 cm wide.

Nativity and distribution

Sapindus emerginatus is native to tropical Asia.
