In Stratiolaelaps, the dorsaldorsal:
relating to the upper or back side; opposed to ventral.
shield tapers posteriorly such that much of the rear bodybody:
the idiosoma of mites.
is exposed soft cuticle. In most species, this soft cuticle bears seta r6 and less than a dozen setae in the Marginal (R-) and Submarginal (UR-) series. Additionally, 9 pairs of setae are usually present in the Ventralventral:
relating to the lower or under side; opposed to dorsal.
setal series (JV1–5, ZV1–4). In some species, however, considerable neotrichy is present in the R-, UR-regions.
