Syagrus petraea Martius, Becc., L'Agric. Colon. 467 (1916).
This specimen is likely a member of the Syagrus petraea species complex. Called coco de vassoura or ariri in Brazil, palma de las rocas in Bolivia, and guriri in Paraguay, the staminate inflorescence of this palm is called “coco mini” in the potpourri trade. The inflorescence is about 15-20 cm long x 2.5-3 cm wide.
Syagrus petraea is native to Brazil, eastern Bolivia, and Paraguay.
