Name and publication

Schrebera swietenioides Roxb., Pl. Coromandel 2: 1, t. 101 (1799).

Description

Fruits of moka are frequently found in imported potpourri and sold as “mike petals” or “pear pods.” These pear-shaped, woody capsules are rough with white, elevated specks on the exterior, dehiscing into halves, 4-5 cm long x 2.5-3 cm wide.

Nativity and distribution

Schrebera swietenioides is native to India and Myanmar.
