Fruit segments of of pau-santo are known as “triangle pods” in the potpourri trade. Capsules are trigonous, glabrous, and deshiscent, 8-28 cm long x 2-5 cm wide. The exterior of the three segments/capsule are dark brown (in the native state) and verrucose; the interior is beige and reddish-brown (in the native state), striate with a central rib. The overall appearance of a segment is of a low canoe.
Kielmeyera marauensis is native to Brazil.
