Juniperus communis L., Sp. Pl. 2: 1040 (1753).
Fleshy cones of common juniper sometimes appear in potpourri. The cones are dark blue to black upon drying, often with a blue glaucous coating, 3-6(-7) mm in diameter, 3-seeded. Leaves are acicular with a single white band above, which is rarely divided by a faint midrib in the basal half.
Juniperus communis is native to Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.
