Jacaranda mimosifolia D. Don, Bot. Reg. 8: t. 631 (1822).
Capsules are thick-woody, the margin undulate; interior with long, dark placental line, rest smooth and lightly furrowed except for the margin, which is rippled, exterior with the texture of very worn sandpaper (irregularly verrucose-coriaceous), somewhat round to elongated, 5-7 cm long x 4.5-6 cm wide, margin often irregularly crenate.
Jacaranda mimosifolia is native to Argentina and Bolivia but widely cultivated in the tropics.
