Cochlospermum orinocense (Kunth) Steud., Nomencl. Bot. ed. 2, 1: 393 (1840) [published as orinoccense, usually interpreted as a typographical error].

Description

“Tefe rose,” the name in the potpourri trade, is only encountered as a “topper” in higher end potpourri. This septicidal capsule has five locules, usually adhering together, backed by three bracts, 8-9 cm high x 5-8 cm wide.

Nativity and distribution

Cochlospermum orinocense is native to Brazil, Colombia, Guyana, Panama, and Venezuela.
