Caryota urens L., Sp. Pl. 2: 1189 (1753).

Description

The inflorescence stalks of the fishtail palm are known as “tail spring” in the potpourri trade. These are tight to loose coils, 5-15 cm long x 2-4 cm wide.

Nativity and distribution

Caryota urens is native to India, Sri-Lanka, Myanmar, and Malaysia but widely cultivated in the tropics as an ornamental.
