Bambusa bambos (L.) Voss, Vilm. Blumengärtn. Ed. 3, 1: 1189 (1895).
This is a tentative identification for pieces of bamboo in potpourri, but the giant thorny bamboo or Indian thorny bamboo is one of the most widely cultivated bamboos for furniture, etc. The stems are cylindrical, hollow, and green-colored (in the native state).
Bambusa bambos is native to China, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, and is also cultivated elsewhere in tropical Asia.
