None.

Type Species

Balyana ornata Gestro.

Diagnosis

Balyana (Perrotella) can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:

  • lateral margin of pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
and elytra without long, stiff spines
  • head without frontal horn between antennae
  • pronotum pronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
with seta in each angle, flattened, never constricted basally, lateral margin narrowly margined
  • anterior margin of prosternumprosternum:
    contains two anterior coxal cavities
not projecting forward, not partly covering mouth
  • less than 14 mm in length
  • antennae with 10-antennomeres, without sensory pits on lower surface
  • elytra with distinct longitudinal and transverse carinae forming an irregular net-like sculpture

Description

Elongate; slightly expanding apically; color varies from yellowish-brown with dark spots to black, venter dark.

Head: vertexvertex:
occupies the area behind and between the eyes
punctate, medial carina present; with 2 transverse sulci above antennal insertions; pubescent tubercles present at base of antennae; clypeusclypeus:
usually quadrangular, elongate; joined to the labrum
and labrumlabrum:
triangular, joined to the clypeus and the oral orifice
pubescent.

Antenna: subclavate; with 10-antennomeres; antennomere 1 short; 2 longer than 1, cylindrical; 3 to 9 decreasing in length, increasing in width; 10 pointed at apex.

Pronotum: lateral margin rounded; anterior margin prolonged over head; anterior and posterior angles acute; posterior margin bisinuate; surface strongly punctate, with deep depressions.

Scutellum: quadrate; punctate.

Elytron: lateral margin smooth, margined; exterior apical angle rounded; humerus rounded, not produced; slightly constricted behind humerus; with 10 rows of punctures interrupted by longitudinal and horizontal carinae forming an irregular net-like sculpture.

Venter: punctate, each puncture with pale seta.
