Bryobiinae—Key feature pages

Prodorsal setae

Bryobiinae have 3 or 4 pairs of prodorsal setaeprodorsal setae:
the setae on the prodorsum of acariform mites.  Two competing chaetotactic systems are used for designations: the Rostral-lamellar and Vertical-scapular systems.
, depending on whether or not seta vi is present.

  • Species of Bryobia typically have 4 pairs and the 2 most anterior pairs are internal and external vertical setae: vi (=v1) and ve, respectively.

  • Other genera may or may not have seta vi and sometimes have lobes.
