Type Species

Wallacispa tibialis Uhmann.

Diagnosis

Wallacispa can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:

  • lateral margin of pronotumpronotum:
    occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
    and elytra without long, stiff spines
  • head without frontal horn between antennae, clypeusclypeus:
    usually quadrangular, elongate; joined to the labrum
    absent or very narrow
  • pronotum pronotum:
    occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
    with seta in each posterior angle
  • elytra without scutellar row of punctures
  • tarsi with 2 claws

Description

Elongate; subparallel; subdepressed; small; color brownish-yellow; total length 5.0 mm.

Head: vertexvertex:
occupies the area behind and between the eyes
rounded, impunctate; clypeusclypeus:
usually quadrangular, elongate; joined to the labrum
absent or very narrow; eyeeye:
elongate, slightly prominent, multifaceted; usually slightly kidney-shaped
large, convex.

Antenna: short; with 11-antennomeres; antennomeres 1 and 2 subequal in length, incrassate; 8 to 11 pubescent.

Pronotum: quadrate; lateral margin straight, smooth; anterior angle rounded; anterior margin curved; posterior angle with small tooth; posterior margin bisinuate; convex; surface irregularly punctate; basal impression absent.

Scutellum: quadrate; rounded at apex.

Elytron: lateral margin straight, smooth, margined; exterior apical angle rounded; apex rounded; humerus rounded, not produced; slightly constricted behind humerus; with 8 rows of punctures, rows 5 to 8 reduced to 2 rows after middle; tricostate.

Leg: short; robust; tarsi with 2 claws.
