Stilpnaspis Weise 1905e: 298

Synonomys

Rhodimatidium Aslam 1965: 690.

Diagnosis

Stilpnaspis can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:

  • the lateral margins of the pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
and the elytra without long, stiff spines
  • the head without a frontal horn; mouthparts not projecting forward, interantennal carina not distinct
  • the pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
with a seta in each anterior angle, sides convergent from base to apex
  • the apex of the elytra without a tooth-like projection
  • the elytra without costae, rounded, posterior margin smooth
  • the antennae with 11-antennomeres, filiform, antennomeres 1 and 2 elongate, 1 ½ length of 2

Description

Body oval to broadly oval; pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
semicircular in outline, widest just before base, broadly explanate; explanate margin of elytra broad, at widest distinctly wider than elytral intervals 9 and 10 combined.

Head: posterior 1/2 of fronsfrons:
upper anterior portion of head capsule above the clypeus
flattened, eyeeye:
elongate, slightly prominent, multifaceted; usually slightly kidney-shaped
level with it; interocular space less than width of eyeeye:
elongate, slightly prominent, multifaceted; usually slightly kidney-shaped
; distance between antennal insertion more than 2x the distance between antennaantenna:
3 to 11 segments, inserted in antennal pit in front of eyes
and eyeeye:
elongate, slightly prominent, multifaceted; usually slightly kidney-shaped
; interantennal carina absent, area between antennal bases broad and flat; labrumlabrum:
triangular, joined to the clypeus and the oral orifice
long, somewhat narrowed, thickened at sides, without posterior transverse carina; maxillary palp with palpomere 4 longer than 3.

Antenna: with 11-antennomeres, antennomeres narrow, elongate; antennomere 1 thickest, robust, longer than wide; 2 longer than 1; 3 longer than 2.

Pronotum: transverse, convex, narrower at base than elytra at humeri; with emargination external to anterior seta; lateral margin convergent from base to apex, slightly recurved; without basal depressions; disc impunctate; sparsely punctate laterally.

Scutellum: broadly triangular.

Elytron: moderately convex; at base as wide as base of pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
, slightly indented behind humerus, slightly widened before middle; lateral margin laminate, smooth; with 10 rows of lightly impressed punctures plus scutellar row; intervals wide.

Venter: prosternumprosternum:
contains two anterior coxal cavities
with transverse impression beside anterior coxal cavity; with 4 visible abdominal sterna.

Leg: tibiatibia:
variable in length; joins femur and tarsus
excavated subapically, not pointed externally.
