Ocnosispa can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:
Body varying in form.
Head: medial sulcus present.
Antenna: with 11-antennomeres, 8 to 11 shorter than 4 to 7; antennomere 1 globular, small; 2 subcylindrical, twice length of 1; 3 to 6 cylindrical, 4 longest.
Pronotum: longer than wide, flattened; margined laterally; basal impression absent; anterior angle with seta, tooth present or absent.
Scutellum: cuspidate (pointed at apex).
Elytron: humerus produced; exterior apical angle toothed or not; with 10 rows of punctures plus scutellar row; 4 costae, costa 2 highly carinate.
Leg: elongate, especially anterior pair.
Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, French Guyana, México, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela.
