Enischnispa calamivora Gressitt.
Enischnispa can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:
Narrow; subparallel; slightly convex; yellow with black markings or totally black; length 2.7 to 3.4 mm.
Head: large; vertexvertex:
occupies the area behind and between the eyes
slightly depressed, medial carina present; with blunt projection between antennal bases; fronsfrons:
upper anterior portion of head capsule above the clypeus
moderately developed; clypeusclypeus:
usually quadrangular, elongate; joined to the labrum
slightly emarginate; eyeeye:
elongate, slightly prominent, multifaceted; usually slightly kidney-shaped
large, convex.
Antenna: ⅔ body length; with 8-antennomeres, slightly thickened apically; antennomeres 1 and 2 subequal in length; 1 subglobose; 2 slightly swollen apically; 3 longer than 2; 4 to 7 shorter; 8 as long as 4 to 7 combined, broadly rounded apically.
Pronotum: longer than wide; slightly constricted basally and apically; lateral margin curved, narrowly margined; anterior angle acute; anterior margin straight; posterior angle acute; posterior margin bisinuate; surface deeply punctate.
Scutellum: longer than wide; narrowed; subtruncate at apex.
Elytron: lateral margin straight, smooth; exterior apical angle rounded; apex rounded; sutural angle with small tooth; humerus rounded, not produced, slightly constricted behind humerus; with 10 rows of punctures at base, 8 rows medially, 9 apically, scutellar row absent; interspaces 2, 4, and 8 strongly costate, 6 prominent concealing lateral margin in dorsal view.
Venter: sparsely punctate.
Leg: short; robust; tibiatibia:
variable in length; joins femur and tarsus
truncate at apex.
