Identification notes

The most conspicuous feature is the many, long, flat, and triangular appendages associated with the ribs. Often these appendages are completely or partially removed in seed conditioning, though their bases can be seen on close examination. The stylopodium is sharp pointed. It is very difficult to distinguish between wild and domesticated carrot seeds.
