The tribe Onciderini (Cerambycidae: Lamiinae) is attributed to Thomson (1860)Thomson (1860):
Thomson J. 1860. Essai d'une classification de la famille des cérambycides et materiaux pour servir a une monographie de cette famille. Paris.. This large tribe currently consists of ~553 species in 82 genera (Tavakilian and Chevillotte 2026Tavakilian and Chevillotte 2026:
Tavakilian GL and Chevillotte H. 2026. Titan: base de données internationales sur les Cerambycidae ou Longicornes. Version 4.0. Accessed March 2026.). The type genus, Oncideres Lacordaire (1830)Lacordaire (1830):
Lacordaire JT. 1830. Mémoire sur les habitudes des insectes coléoptères de l'Amérique méridionale. Annales Des Sciences Naturelles. 21:149–194., is the largest genus in the tribe with 141 described species and subspecies. Six additional genera contain more than 20 species: Cacostola (41), Hesychotypa (29), Hypsioma (31), Lochmaeocles (29), Trestonia (23), and Tulcus (22). Of the 82 genera, 48 are monotypic or contain only two species.
Since the original release of this tool, there have been significant changes to the taxonomy of Onciderini including: (1) synonymy of Onocephalini with Onciderini, resulting in the transfer of Onocephala Sturm, 1843, Pseudoperma Dillon and Dillon, 1946Dillon and Dillon, 1946:
