Diprion liuwanensis

Identification

Along with Diprion tianmunicus, D. liuwanensis is the only Diprion in which the female forewing is distally infumateinfumate:
tinted with a smoky hue. Refers to wing membrane.
. It is most similar overall to D. wenshanicus but differs in having a concolorous mesopectus.

The D. liuwanensis male uniquely shares a linear ventral margin to the valvicepsvalviceps:
the distal end of the penial sclerite. There is no explicit anatomical boundary between the valviceps and the remainder of the penial sclerite.
with D. nipponicus. Sparse mesothoracic vestiturevestiture:
covering of hairs on a surface. In the attached image, that surface is the mesoscutum in profile view.
in the male is a condition uniquely shared with D. hani (among the nine species in which that character could be assessed).
