Identification

Among the species for which the female could be examined, the Diprion hutacharernae female is uniquely identifiable by the entirely dark coloration of ATVIIIabdominal tergite VIII:
the dorsal sclerite of abdominal segment VIII.

There is no single character state that uniquely identifies the Diprion hutacharernae male, which is indistinguishable from D. jingyuanensis and D. nanhuaensis using currently known phenotypic characters.
