Three rusts have been reported on Monstera species, Pseudocerradoa paullula (Puccinia paullula), Uredo monsterae, and U. monstericola. Of these, P. paullula has also been reported to infect other aroids.
The reported distribution of P. paullula is geographically widespread, while the reported distribution of the Uredo spp. is limited to Venezuela.
Image resources for P. paullula are readily available, but limited or non-existent for Uredo monsterae and U. monstericola.
These fact sheets include images of APHIS interceptions of Pseudocerradoa paullula and images from collections of Uredo monsterae and U. monstericola from the U.S. National Fungus Collections. Primarily aimed at area identifiers and plant disease diagnosticians, they are intended to support identification of rusts on Monstera by providing clear descriptions and images of each rust.
