Diagnosis

3.5−4.2 mm long (mean = 3.73 mm; n = 5); 2.1−2.3 times as long as wide. This species can be distinguished by the presence of more than three spinesspine:
an elongate projection of the exoskeleton that is longer than its basal width
on each elytralelytral:
pertaining to the elytra
margin. Declivitaldeclivital:
pertaining to the elytral declivity
armature consists of two large spinesspine:
an elongate projection of the exoskeleton that is longer than its basal width
closest to suture on declivitaldeclivital:
pertaining to the elytral declivity
summit and many smaller, uniform-sized denticlesdenticle:
a small tooth, the sides of which are equal and the tip is above the middle of the base
on declivitaldeclivital:

margin.

Distribution

China (Yunnan), Indonesia (Java, Sumatra, Sunda Is.), East & West Malaysia, New Guinea, Thailand

Host plants

polyphagous (Browne 1961bBrowne 1961b:

Remarks

vestiture of this species is quite variable. In Asian specimens the declivitydeclivity:
downward slope of either the pronotum or elytra
is covered with dense flattened scalesscale:
a flattened seta
, while specimens from Papua New Guinea are covered by long setaeseta:
small hair-like or scale-like structure
. The shape, density, and color of the scalesscale:
a flattened seta
are quite variable (Hulcr and Cognato, 2013).
