Disseminule a winged bur consisting of hardened phyllaries tightly enclosing a single cypsela.

Bur body widely fusiform (with wings removed), 3–4(7) mm long, stipitate-glandular, with 5–20+ scattered (whorled or spiraled) wings. Wings spreading from bur body or enwrapping bur, each measuring 2–7 mm long x 3–6 mm wide, variously shaped (broadly cuneiform, reniform, flabellate or orbiculate), membranous, whitish to light brown with darker veins.
