An involucre of often numerous bracts (phyllaries) in one or more series subtends the Asteraceae head. The phyllaries may be long or short, narrow or broad, imbricate or not. Choose the state most similar to your involucre. If the shape of your involucre is in between two of the states below, choose both. The diagrammatic illustrations below show only the involucre, without the florets.
