Involucral bract arrangement

An involucre of often numerous bracts (phyllaries) in one or more series subtends the Asteraceae head. The phyllaries may be long or short and narrow or broad, whether imbricate or not. The involucre itself may be any of several different shapes (see feature involucre shape).
