Caryophyllaceae |
Carnations are among the most popular flowers in
the world and are widely grown in Africa. Two inflorescence forms of carnations
are grown; standard carnations have only one large flower, while spray
(also called miniature) carnations have several flowers, per stem. Cultivars
are based on Dianthus caryophyllus L.
