Diagnosis

Body length 7.3-7.4 mm, width 3.5-3.7 mm. Head basic color black. Antennae filiformfiliform:
slender antennae with antennomeres of similar shape
, bi- or tricolored, antennomeres 1-3 yellow, antennomeres 4-8 gradually infuscated, antennomeres 9-10 sulphur yellow, antennomereantennomere:
"segment" of antenna, more or less clearly separated
11 completely light cadmium or dark apically. Maxillary palpi black, mars yellow or chestnut, labrumlabrum:
the "upper lip" of beetles, a movable sclerite joined under clypeus
black, chestnut or amber brown. Pronotumpronotum:
the notum of the prothorax with highly sclerotized pronotal disc
yellow or ochraceous-orange, subquadrate, weakly bifoveate, with wide shallow foveae, not shagreened. Scutellumscutellum:
small, usually triangular shield between the bases of elytra
yellow. Elytra yellow or rufous, with three black or metallic black blue bandsbands:
(here) transverse maculae on the beetle elytra
. Bandsbands:
(here) transverse maculae on the beetle elytra
are connected laterally creating two ring-shape yellow maculae on the base and two transverse maculae in the middle of each elytronelytron:
(pl. elytra) the fore highly sclerotized wing of beetle
, or posteriorposterior:
the region of the body parts of the beetle furthest from the head
band may be reduced to two transverse black spots. Epipleura yellow, sutural anglesutural angle:
the posterior angle or apex of the elytron near the suture
of elytronelytron:
(pl. elytra) the fore highly sclerotized wing of beetle
round or obtuse-angled, punctation scattered, coarse. Abdomen yellow. Tarsi yellow or yellow ocher. Tibiatibia:
(pl. tibiae) the forth part of the beetle leg articulated with femur on the one side and with tarsus on the other side
bicolored, yellow, outer edge with piceous or testaceous line, or extensively darkened. Femora yellow or yellow ocher. Aedeagusaedeagus:
the main sclerotized part of the male genitalia; "aedeagus" is used here instead of "median lobe of aedeagus"
symmetric, with four internal sac scleritessclerites:
(here) the sclerotized hooks, spines or plates in the internal sac
.

Potential problems with identification

Diabrotica mantillerii Derunkov, Prado, Tishechkin, Konstantinov is similar to D. rogersi Jacoby. They can be separated by the following features: scutellumscutellum:
small, usually triangular shield between the bases of elytra
is yellow in D. mantillerii, but brown or black in D. rogersi; there are two round yellow maculae on the basis of elytronelytron:
(pl. elytra) the fore highly sclerotized wing of beetle
in D. mantillerii, but no any maculae present in the center of basalbasal:
of or pertaining to the base, as in the first, or basal segment of an appendage; opposite of apical
band in D. rogersi; two yellow spots in the middle of elytronelytron:
(pl. elytra) the fore highly sclerotized wing of beetle
are transverse and look like yellow band in D. mantillerii, while they are small and more or less round-shaped in D. rogersi.
