Diagnosis

Wallacea can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:

• lateral margin of pronotumpronotum:
  occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
  and elytra without long, stiff spines
• head without frontal horn between antennae, clypeusclypeus:
  usually quadrangular, elongate; joined to the labrum
  well-developed
• pronotum pronotum:
  occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
  with seta in each posterior angle
• elytra without scutellar row of punctures
• tarsi with 2 claws

Description

Elongate; subparallel; subdepressed; elytra projecting beyond tip of abdomenabdomen:
with five visible sternites
; color brown or reddish-brown, some species with black markings; total length 4.3 to 12.0 mm.

Head: small; transverse; medial sulcus present; labrumlabrum:
triangular, joined to the clypeus and the oral orifice
very small; clypeusclypeus:
usually quadrangular, elongate; joined to the labrum
well-developed; maxillary palps with palpomeres 2 and 3 subequal in length, obconic, 4 slightly longer, oval; eyeeye:
elongate, slightly prominent, multifaceted; usually slightly kidney-shaped
large, convex.

Antenna: with 11-antennomeres; thickening to apex; reaches to humerus; antennomere 1 thicker than 2; 11 rounded at apex.

Pronotum: quadrate; lateral margin rounded, strongly margined; anterior angle obtuse, rounded; anterior margin weakly rounded; posterior angle acute; posterior margin weakly sinuate; convex; surface irregularly punctate.

Scutellum: narrow; elongate; impunctate.

Elytron: lateral margin straight, smooth; apical margin rounded or truncate; humerus rounded, not produced; slightly constricted behind humerus; with 8 rows of punctures with additional rows after middle; tricostate.

Leg: short; robust; tarsi with 2 claws.
