Synonomys

None.

Type Species

Promecispa voeltzkowi Weise.

Diagnosis

Promecispa can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:

  • lateral margin of pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
and elytra without long, stiff spines
  • head without frontal horn between antennae
  • pronotum pronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
with seta in all four angles, constricted apically, lateral margin obsolete
  • anterior margin of prosternumprosternum:
    contains two anterior coxal cavities
not projecting forward, not partly covering mouth
  • antennae as long as head and pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
    combined, thickened apically
  • elytra with tooth in sutural angle
  • hind legs short, unarmed

Description

Body elongate; subcylindrical; brownish-yellow, venter reddish-brown.

Head: vertexvertex:
occupies the area behind and between the eyes
punctate, medial sulcus absent; eyeeye:
elongate, slightly prominent, multifaceted; usually slightly kidney-shaped
convex, oval; fronsfrons:
upper anterior portion of head capsule above the clypeus
not projecting.

Antenna: as long as head and pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
combined; thickened at apex; antennomere 1 as long as wide; 2 to 6 narrow; 7 thicker; 8 to 10 thicker; 11 longer than 10.

Pronotum: cylindrical; convex; lateral margin obsolete, straight; anterior angle rounded; anterior margin curved forward over head; posterior margin bisinuate; posterior angle acute; surface punctate, punctures less dense on anterior margin; with constriction on apical ½.

Scutellum: elongate; rounded at apex; impunctate.

Elytron: lateral margin straight, smooth; exterior apical angle rounded; apex rounded, with fringe of setae; sutural angle with tooth; with 8 rows of large punctures, punctures slightly confused apically; even interspaces costate.
