Synonomys

None.

Type Species

Isopedhispa ferruginea Spaeth.

Diagnosis

Isopedhispa can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:

  • lateral margin of pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
and elytra without long, stiff spines
  • head with narrow frontal horn which is acuminate apically, with small lamina under antennal base visible from above
  • antennomere 1 without spine-like process
  • pronotum pronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
with anterior angles oblique, with seta in each anterior angle
  • elytra with 8 rows of punctures basally plus scutellar row, 10 rows apically, costae visible on apical ½
  • prosternum prosternum:
    contains two anterior coxal cavities
with anterior margin not expanding forward

Description

Body elongate; depressed; subparallel; color black or reddish-brown; total length 8.5 to 9.5 mm.

Head: cephalic plate quadrate, medial sulcus present; frontal horn narrow, short, not as wide as long at base, acuminate apically; with small lamina under antennal bases visible from above; clypeusclypeus:
usually quadrangular, elongate; joined to the labrum
2x as long as wide; eyeeye:
elongate, slightly prominent, multifaceted; usually slightly kidney-shaped
large, convex.

Antenna: filiform; reaches to humerus; with 11-antennomeres; antennomere 1 incrassate, more than 2x length of 2; 2 obconic; 3 to 10 cylindrical, decreasing in length; 11 longer than 10, pointed at apex.

Pronotum: lateral margin sinuate, converging from base to apex, margined; anterior angle oblique, with seta and small tooth; anterior margin curved; posterior angle rounded; posterior margin bisinuate; surface punctate.

Scutellum: subtriangular.

Elytron: lateral margin straight, smooth; exterior apical angle rounded; apical margin truncate; humerus rounded, not produced; with 8 rows of punctures basally, 10 apically, plus scutellar row; tricostate, costae more visible on apical ½.

Venter: prosternumprosternum:
contains two anterior coxal cavities
with anterior margin not expanding forward.
