Synonomys

Himatidium Fabricius.

Himatidiella Aslam 1965: 690.

Type Species

Imatidium thoracicum Fabricius.

Diagnosis

Imatidium can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:

  • the lateral margins of the pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
and the elytra without long, stiff spines
  • body broadly oval
  • the head without a frontal horn; mouthparts not projecting forward; interantennal carina indistinct
  • the pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
with a seta in each anterior angle
  • the apex of the elytra without a tooth-like projection
  • the elytra without costae, rounded, posterior margin smooth
  • the antennae with 11-antennomeres, filiform, antennomeres 1 to 2 elongate and subequal in length

Description

Head: posterior half of fronsfrons:
upper anterior portion of head capsule above the clypeus
flattened; eyeeye:
elongate, slightly prominent, multifaceted; usually slightly kidney-shaped
not projecting; interocular width less than width of an eyeeye:
elongate, slightly prominent, multifaceted; usually slightly kidney-shaped
; distance between antennaantenna:
3 to 11 segments, inserted in antennal pit in front of eyes
not less than 2x distance between antennaantenna:
3 to 11 segments, inserted in antennal pit in front of eyes
and an eyeeye:
elongate, slightly prominent, multifaceted; usually slightly kidney-shaped
; interantennal carina not raised, transverse carina behind labrumlabrum:
triangular, joined to the clypeus and the oral orifice
absent; labrumlabrum:
triangular, joined to the clypeus and the oral orifice
distinct.

Antenna: with 11-antennomeres, not thickened apically; antennomere 1 equal in length to 2; 2 more than 1/2 length of 3; 4 to 10 decreasing in length; 11 not laterally compressed and shorter than 10; 4 to 11 setose.

Pronotum: without notch external to anterior setae; sparsely punctate; no depressions present; lateral margin convergent from base to apex.

Scutellum: broadly triangular.

Elytron: lateral and apical margins laminate; slightly indented behind humerus; with 10 rows of moderately impressed punctures plus scutellar row.

Venter: hypomera with transverse impression beside anterior coxal cavity; 4 visible abdominal sterna.

Leg: tibiatibia:
variable in length; joins femur and tarsus
not pointed externally though excavated subapically.
