Diagnosis

Callohispa can be distinguished by the following combination of characters:

  • the lateral margins of the pronotumpronotum:
    occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
    and the elytra without long, stiff spines
  • the head without a frontal horn
  • the pronotumpronotum:
    occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
    with a seta in each anterior and posterior angle, with lateral teeth, with tooth in anterior and posterior angle
  • the apex of the elytra without a tooth-like projection

Description

Large; elongate; widened behind humeri, about three times as long as broad behind the humeri; black, yellow- brown on anterior ½.

Head: elongate; with two weak tubercles in front of eyes.

Antenna: short, reach to base of pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
; with 11-antennomeres; antennomere 1 short, as wide as long; 2 shorter than 1; 3 as long as 1 and 2 combined; 4 to 6 similar, each shorter than 3; 8 subequal in length to 9; 11 2x length of 10, pointed at apex.

Pronotum: twice as broad as long; slightly quadrate; anterior angle with rough teeth; posterior angle with conical teeth; seta present in each anterior and posterior angle; lateral margin with 3 teeth; surface punctate.

Scutellum: large, triangular.

Elytron: at humerus are much wider than the pronotumpronotum:
occupies all of dorsal part of the prothorax; in anterior angles or posterior angles there may be a small tubercle or pore with a seta
; with 10 regular puncture rows plus a short scutellar row.

Leg: strong, short; front leg with teeth, curved tibiatibia:
variable in length; joins femur and tarsus
, with blunt teeth before apex; claws well developed.
