Description

Fruits of the Rangoon creeper rarely appear in potpourri. These football-shaped (ellipsoid or ovoid) drupes, with five longitudinal ribs (occasionally 4-9 ribbed, providing a star-shape in transverse section), acute tip, blackish-brown to purplish black, 2.5-4 cm long x 1-2 cm wide.

Nativity and distribution

Quisqualis indica is native to Africa and Asia but widely cultivated and naturalized in the tropics.
