Description

The fruits of the bushy yate or Bald Island marlock are sometimes encountered in potpourri imported from Australia. The capsules are fused into a globular head, 2-6 cm long x 4-8 cm wide, with 3 strongly exserted valves. The opercula (operculums, flower bud caps) are sold in the retail potpourri trade as “witches hats”; these are stout, horn-shaped, 3-6 cm long x 8-13 mm wide.

Nativity and distribution

Eucalyptus conferruminata is native to Western Australia but cultivated elsewhere.
