Dysoxylum binectariferum (Roxb.) Hook. f., Trans. Linn. Soc. 25: 212 (1866).

Description

Segments of the capsules of D. binectariferum are sold in the potpourri trade as “lafi pods.” The capsule is woody-coriaceous, 5 cm in diameter, but the four segments per capsule are pear-shaped and curled in upon themselves on drying, 3-6 cm long when stretched out, heavily veined or ribbed, anastomosing on the outside, smooth on the inside.

Nativity and distribution

Dysoxylum binectariferum is native to India and Sri Lanka.
