Cariniana rubra Gardner ex Miers, Trans. Linn. Soc. 39: 288 (1874).

Description

The fruits of jequitibá appear as small, wooden vases, technically dehiscent pyxidia, about 7-8 cm long, each bearing 8-16 seeds. The fruits of C. legalis (Mart.) Kuntze are very similar but 4-5 cm long.

Nativity and distribution

Cariniana rubra is native to Brazil.
