Diagnostic Features of Larvae
- Larva. Form rather slender; integument very finely wrinkled, rather densely covered with very light castaneous hairs; labrum thin, transversely oval, sparsely haired; pronotum distinctly wider than long; asperities of same texture throughout, extending over but little more than one-half the length; eusternum densely and coarsely hairy in front, no asperities; sternellum bearing a very few (scarcely visible) asperities on lateral extremities; asperities of ampullae very tine; pleural tubercles suborbicular, many setae: spiracles small, oval, peritreme strongly chitinized. Biology and Economic Importance
- The larvae kill the vines of Virginia creeper. They mine under the bark, pupating in the sapwood. Adapted from Craighead (1923).
