Diagnostic Features of Larvae
- Larva. Integument dull, very finely granulate; nearly as hairy as Saperda discoidea, otherwise similar to Saperda tridentata. Pupa. Resembles S. tridentata in the strong chitinous points and long setae arising from the base; on the anterior margin of the pronotum is a row of such points and a V-shaped group on posterior half as well as on mesonotum and metanotum; the abdominal terga bear two groups in a transverse row, and a border around last abdominal segment. Biology and Economic Importance
- This species, has been recorded from Salix, Hicoria, Tilia, and Prunus. The larva mines between the bark and wood, pupating in the sapwood. Adapted from Craighead (1923).
