Diagnostic Features of Larvae
- Pupa. Length up to 27 mm; breadth 7 mm. Head entirely smooth and glabrous, but with a small conical tubercle alongside base of each antenna. Antenna with segment 1 acutely produced apically; long, extending as far as abdominal segment 3, where they are recurved ventrally to terminate about half-way along and beneath mid femora. Pronotum quadrate; disc depressed and bearing a few scattered pale papillae. Mesonotum and metanotum glabrous. Abdomen with tergites 1-9 glabrous except for a very few scattered pale papillae. Sternites glabrous. Legs with hind femora extending to anterior margin of abdominal segment 5. Functional spiracles present on abdominal segments 1-7; peritreme thin, ferruginous, narrowly oval and slightly raised above general level of cuticle. Adapted from Duffy 1957).
Biology and Economic Importance
- Members of this tribe are native to the Australasian and Afrotropic regions. One species, Xystrocera globosa, has been introduced to several countries. More information on this genus is available at: cabi.org.
