Fruit composed of four attached nutlets (each a dry, indehiscent, woody, one-seeded fruit segment), 1–4 of which fully develop and detach from each other at maturity.
Nutlet lanceolate in outline, cross-section trigonous, 4–6 mm long x 2–2.2 mm wide x 2–2.2 mm thick. Surface very shiny, smooth, glabrous, gray with blackish and sometimes brownish splotches and blackish speckles, with a longitudinal slit-like groove along ridge on adaxial face (groove forked on A. vernicosa var. furcata (Suksd.) Hoover and not forked on A. vernicosa var. vernicosa). Abaxial face flat (i.e., no ridges).
Nutlet attachment scar hidden on adaxial face.
