Pinus contorta Douglas ex Loudon var. latifolia Engelm., S. Watson et al., Botany [fortieth parallel] 331 (1871), in C. King, U.S. geol. explor. 40th Parallel vol. 5).

Description

Pinus contorta exists in three varieties; var. latifolia is the lodgepole pine. Cones of the lodgepole pine are strongly asymmetric, mostly recurved, 2-6 cm long, dark brown.

Nativity and distribution

Pinus contorta var. latifolia is native to western North America.
